[Hope looks stunned.

He's just witnessed his little Surskit who was working so hard at training turn into this weird moth thing. He blinks with a smile on his face before turning the camera to the Masquerain flying around his head.]

I don't really know what happened. One minute we were training and then suddenly he went all white and changed into this thing.

[The Masquerain starts flapping, seemingly annoyed at being called a 'thing'. Hope blinks at him before laughing. That was definitely his Surskit.]

Lightning! Ven! See?

[He grins showing it again.]

If Alexander was a pokémon he'd probably look a lot like this!

[Super excited Hope now. He's tentatively, yet somehow excitedly coming closer.]

[Oh, the giant turtle is indeed friendly. Friendly and staring at Hope like he's a long lost friend who hasn't been seen in years. Careful you don't get hugged, Hope. Those stubby arms are strong.]

It wouldn't surprise me. He earned that name for a reason.

[Hope smiled up at the giant turtle. Then suddenly-

CRUSHING HUG.]

N-Nice to see you too--

[Okay breathing might be an issue now.]

[Breathing might indeed be an issue, but Lightning's reaction time isn't. She only has to take one step forward, really.]

Alexander.

[One word, but said in such a tone that Alexander flinches and...gently sets Hope down, back on his feet. Uh...whoops?]

[Hope coughs a little bit, bent over with his hands on his knees before lifting one hand to give Lightning a thumbs up. He's okay. He's okay.]

Nice... [Cough] To meet you.

[It's a good thing that Hope is making that gesture, but Lightning is already at his side and making sure that he's okay. Which is a good thing, because Alexander is crying out again, sounding happy and almost like he's laughing as twin bursts of water jet into the sky and fall back down as...yep. Rain.

Sorry, Hope. Big sis is just going to cover you now. No need for you to get soaked as she glares at a very happy tortoise.]

It's just a little rain Lightning. You don't need to get extra wet on my behalf.

[He gives a few deep breaths.]

So... why is he so happy to see me?

It's just instinct, Hope.

[Said as she wrings out her hair, tossing it back over her shoulder. It is instinct...one that's strong even after months of him not being here.]

You remember that I told you you'd been here before, right? He was your starter from your first time here. He never forgot you.

[She'd never been able to find the rest of his team the second time. It still bothers her a bit.]

[...]

So... he remembers the other me?

[That's... slightly disheartening. Hope is having confidence issues.]

[Lightning hesitates, the pause making her wonder if saying that was a good idea, but then she looks to Alexander and her tone lightens just a little.]

Probably. Not that he seems to care.

[Indeed; one glance at Alexander will tell Hope that the giant tortoise really doesn't care that Hope doesn't remember. He just seems jubilant to have an old friend back...and he looks a few steps away from another crush-hug, if Lightning wasn't standing in his path.]

[Hope smiles at him. But there is the faintest trace of something, which disappears as he forces it to the back of his mind.]

He doesn't. It's kinda easy to tell.

[Lightning doesn't catch that hint of something, but after everything that's happened, she knows better than to assume it's this easy. Sometime, perhaps later today, she'll have to tell him that this isn't her first time here, either. Maybe things would be easier then.]

I did warn you he was loud, remember? Could give Snow a run for his gil with how expressive he is for being a giant tortoise.

I bet he'd even beat Snow at arm wrestling.

[He grinned.]

Yeah, he probably could.

[A tiny chuckle. Alexander couldn't stomp on Snow the same way the Adamantoises could, but he could certainly headbutt him. ...Etro she misses that lug.]

[Hope sort of misses him too. But... no sadness. That causes dwelling, and dwelling is the enemy.]

When Snow gets here we should make them try it!

[Because Hope knows they'll all be together again soon.]

[Dwelling is indeed the enemy, but Hope undoubtedly knows that Lightning doesn't have a good track record with dodging enemies. Not for lack of trying, though!]

Think he can manage with a broken nose, or should I hold off on punching him for a while?

[They'll all find a way to be together again someday. They have to be.]

I'd hold off. HE might need an explanation of why he's getting punched before you just hit him.

[He grins at Lightning.]

Though it is kinda funny that you can floor him.

True, but I'm not sure he deserves one. Not after everything he put Serah through.

[And that was just the first time. Fal'Cie...has it really been that long?]

You could knock him over too, you know. With enough practice.

I don't know if I could handle that kind of training ontop of my pokémon training. Absol is in really good shape. And I have a whole new strategy to devise now that Sur- Masquerain is a flying type.

Maybe once they're trained, then. We'll see.

[Reaching out and...yep. Hair fluffles. So dedicated, lil' bro.]

Absol learned Swords Dance. If he uses that and Pursuit, he really packs a punch.

[He pets the pocket where he keeps his pokéballs.]

[A pensive look overtakes Lightning's face at that, and she tilts her head a bit.]

I'm sure. But can he outlast his opponent to give it that punch? All the strength in the world won't matter if he can't hit his target.

[It's an honest question; she's not trying to belittle his training methods or anything like that. She just wants to be sure he can defend himself if the need arise.]

He's a good shot. Especially with Razor wind. He kind of... does this little huffy thing if he misses. And then he won't stop till he's hit the target at least four times in a row.

[He shakes his head.]

Which is why I train him first. Because he's so stubborn.

[Huffy little thing, huh? That might not end well one day...]

Have you tried to get him to stop doing that? It may get you in trouble soon.

That's when we're doing target practise. In battle he listens.

[Mostly. But Lightning doesn't need to know that.]
