[Hope had gotten up early this morning. After speaking to Lightning on the phone everyday since he arrived? The anticipation of seeing her again was making him fidget. His Absol was standing down by his feet. Watching him pace.

Hope is basically waiting for his welcome wagon to arrive. Feel free to stop by and poke him, call him on the cell or whatever you please really.]

[Hope wasn't quite sure what to do with all these unfamiliar pokémon who knew him. But he offered his hand to each in turn. Whatever they did was up to them. He'd understand.]

[While Vaporeon takes a seat between Hope and Ven, Dragonair does something else entirely.

Namely...drops her head right on top of Hope's. It's the same thing her mother did to her trainer, clearly it's a greeting for special people]

[Ven winces, knowing while she's not heavy, she's big and fairly strong]

Hope wobbles slightly, while she wasn't heavy, it was definitely a... shall we say presence on his head? He recovered a moment later and reached up to pat her.]

I guess that means I'm pretty popular.

[Ven's relieved when Aura doesn't knock Hope off balance with that one, offering a smile at the comment]

Course, you're Hope.

I am. But I'm not sure that this Hope... is the Hope they know.

[And there is a mild insecurity that he has to live up to his own legacy. Which... is confusing to him as well.]

But it feels like... I'm halfway through a story that I didn't write and now I'm expected to just take over.

I've made a lot of good memories since then. And it means I can understand how you feel, so I don't think it's that bad.

[It felt good not worry about anything for a while. As he was poked he grinned and ran toward Ven, poking him back before doubling back on himself and running away with a laugh.]

[It's pretty silly, and Ven's fairly aware of it, but it's fun playing around with a friend. And hey, he's a speedster, so he'll give a pretty good chase at least.

And a poke for the back of Hope's head when he catches up]

[Hope felt the poke, span back around and chased. It took him a minute, but he managed to poke you.

However, in attempting to jump backwards, he misplaced his footwork, and fell flat on his butt.

And oddly? This was the funniest thing in the world.]

[Ven turns to make sure Hope's okay, but when he sees the other boy laughing he can't help a snort]

You know, the first time I met you, we tripped over each other. Us and this other boy, Enma.

[Which was clearly the start of some beautiful brostuff]

... That doesn't sound like me.

[He stood, grinning and dusted off his butt.]

Better believe it, since I didn't think to take pictures.

[He figures Hope's kidding with him, so he'll roll with it]

But I don't trip on stuff!

[Except all of the time.]

When I was a kid, I used to have bandaids on my knees and elbows all the time.

[Oh yeah, he's seen a few good Hope-trips in his time here. The only person who totally outdid him was Enma]

From stuff other than tripping?

No, I tripped. A lot.

My mom always used to say I had a talent for it.

[He knows about Hope's mom, but only that she's gone and it can be quite the sensitive issue. This might be the first time he's gotten to hear something like that about her]
